"Fountain", "Humility" and "Countess"

The more I look at this painting, the more I think it's one of the best I've ever done.  The effects of light, smoke and boat reflections are still pleasing to my eye a year after I painted the artwork.  It depicts an old Moray Firth trio of sailboats converted to diesel, as many of these boats were.  They are the "Fountain", "Humility" and "Countess", and behind them some of the rest of the herring fleet can be seen, many of them steam drifters.

The painting is 24 x 24 inches, is painted in oils on hardboard, and was bought by a visitor to my studio late in 2009.
