Northlink Ferry "Hrossey"

The "Hrossey" is one of two identical ro-ro ferries (the other being the "Hjaltland") built in Finland to service the Aberdeen-Shetland route for Northlink, when they took over the lifeline Northern Isles service in 2001.  She is pictured on her way south past Sumburgh Head.

This oil painting on hardboard is 24 x 18 inches in size, and was commissioned by Alan Kelday of Orkney, who won the competition to name the new vessels on the route.  Sadly, he has since passed away.
